What clinical review means here, and, at present, what has not been reviewed.

We think it is important to say that plainly rather than leave it to be assumed. No content here has been checked by a named clinician. Until that changes, you will not find a reviewer byline on any page, and we do not use structured data that asserts clinical review.
Review badges and reviewer bylines are easy to display and hard to check, so this site does not display one until it has earned it.
What would trigger a review
Any page that states a clinical threshold, describes what a treatment does, or tells a reader that something is or is not safe. That is a smaller set than it sounds: most of the site is arithmetic on figures the reader supplied, and arithmetic is checked by tests rather than by clinicians.
The pages that would need it first are the ones quoting BMI thresholds for treatment, the ones describing what trials reported, and the safety rules that decide when a calculator refuses to produce a plan at all.
What review will involve when it happens
When pages are clinically reviewed, the review will cover:
- Whether every health claim is accurate and properly sourced.
- Whether the thresholds and safety limits in the calculators are appropriate, particularly the minimum calorie figures, which are currently drawn from consumer convention rather than published guidance.
- Whether the wording around targets, BMI categories and safety messages is clear and appropriately cautious.
- Whether anything on the page could reasonably be mistaken for personalised medical advice.
Reviewers will be named, with their registration, and each reviewed page will carry the date it was reviewed. Review is not a one-off: reviewed pages will be re-checked when relevant guidance changes.
In the meantime
The calculators are built on published NHS guidance and a recognised metabolic equation, and the methodology page sets out every assumption we make, including the ones we are unsure of. That is not the same as clinical review, and we do not present it as such.
